Contagion

“Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard among others. This outbreak thriller opens in theaters across the country today. We’ll be posting our thoughts on the film here eventually. Until then, read Jenny Dreadful’s guest review for Cinedelphia here. (If you’re local to Philly, you might want to keep an eye on them for reviews, news and contests as well.)

Creature

An ex-Navy seal (Mehcad Brooks), his girlfriend (Serinda Swan) and their friends head out on a road trip to New Orleans. The group decides to stop at a roadside convenience store owned by Chopper (Sid Haig), who tells them the tale of Lockjaw, a fabled god-like creature who is half-man, half-alligator.

I love dudes in rubber suits menacing the populace as much as the next horror fan. Alligator men? Sign me up. Amanda Fuller from Red, White & Blue? Even better. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll be able to sit through this one outside of a drunken rental. Once again, I’d like to send you over to our friend, Eric Bresler, of Cinedelphia for more details. Want a second opinion? Check out Bloody Disgusting’s review. 0 out of 10 stars? Ouch.
